soggy scrambler
#1
i have a 2004 scrambler 500 that boggs out when i hit water too hard. it seems as though i was getting water in the air intake but i checked and i'm not. does anyone have any ideas??????? the only other thing i can think of is the intake for the cvt belt??? they are a little different then the ones from a few years ago and i don't know if this is the root of it...oh and it also happens when i wash it. the belt is not slipping... its definitely motor related...thanks

remove your front nose piece, locate the connector for the rev limter. Apply silicone sealent to the wire as the enter the connector. what is happening is when you hit a lot of water, the water is coming up and filling up the top of the connector where the wires enter and shorting out to each other. If you needs pics let me know and i will try to get some posted. This connector is within 3 inches of the steering shaft of to the left if yhour standing in front of the quad. I prove this to be the problem with mine last time i was out. The quick fix is to shake the connector to get the water out. Hope this helps.

You are probably getting water in the belt housing......try washing it, and if it does it right when you get done......then put it in neutral(with the p-brake on) and rev it up and see if it quits it eventually....if so, then that is your problem......if not, it could possibly be a vent hose or something getting full of water, causing a vaccuum??...
