Polaris Xpress 300 help!
Hey guys,
I just recently purchased my first quad at 15 years of age, and got a really good deal on it. Its a 97-98 Polaris Xpress 300cc. Auto.
First it is a belt driven tranny, but it is chain driven to the wheels. I've been told that when I go through water the belt may stop slipping, since the tranny housing is not sealed. I decided to try that theory out today, and well, I went through water about 1 foot deep, and it started slipping like crazy. I had to go wide open to get through it, yet I was still only doing 1 km/h. Any help towards how I could seal the tranny, or somehow make this in my favour next time would be appreciated. Also, how long till I could use a belt replacement. I've noticed there is no snap at all with this thing, its like; Hit the gas, wait, wait, wait, slowly starts to speed up, then it hits, then suddenly stops accelerating at about 60 km/h, and then starts going higher in RPM till about 65 where it maxes out.
I also had a bogging problem that seemed to cure its self, but I'd still like to correct it. What would happen is; it would sometimes bog when I give'r 1/4 throttle, but it would kill it, just cease all excelleration. Sometimes it would move to 1/2, and even full throttle. When I was crossin the highway and goin through a small ditch to get home, it cured itself and has been peppier since. Anyone know what the could be?
