Default Starter Removal 96 300 Express

I have all bolts loose except the one that is located on the rear/bottom of the starter. Is it possible to get that bolt out without pulling the clutch?
Thanks in advance
Matt

I don't know for sure , but on most models you have to pull the clutch and covers........A parts diagram might help you too......try www.partsland.com

I have read a few old threads and it looks like some people have gotten them out with out the removal of the clutch's. Sure would like to stay away from removing the clutches.

Do you remember what kind of wrench you used to get those back bolts out?

Steve
My only problems with my express 300 were the sprockets and chain which lasted 5 years and now the starter.

I ended up using a big screw driver and a big hammer to break the bracket holding the starter in. In my book 3 bolts are plenty enough to hold the starter in place compared to pulling the clutch and cover. That 2 pound thing has 5 more bolts holding it in than my jeep starter that ways 15#'s. (I know they are bigger bolts) When I pulled the starter a part it was full of gas and mud like most said it would be. other than that it was in great shape. I cleaned it up and siliconed it back up and slapped it back on minus those (*&*%&$^&#& bolts in the rear. It works like a champ now.

When I first had to pull my 300's starter, it didn't have a bolt holding that bracket to the frame. The bracket was there, but no bolt, so I guess I got off easy although on mine it would have been easy to get at.
But I agree, the 3 bolts are plenty to hold that thing in place.
