removing shifter and reverse?

that the only few thing i plan to do next season,does it worth it?
i want to throw out that shifter,cauze my tranny need new gasket and i'll need to open up it anyway.
is the non-reverse gears make a differences in the tranny?
cauze i known some up here have done the thing,please let me known,thanks,happy riding.

But your not going to be able to take out your shifter tho .. you still need it for nuetral, and you cant just take out the reverse ... you have to put a spacer in to replace it ... its confuzing

The reverse gear weighs around 4lbs. And you gotta figure that is all rotating mass.

It looks tacky(but you can redesign something off of this to make it look better)....but I once had to use a wrench to shift mine, right on the top of the gearbox.......you could make something right there to decrease weight. Also, just tear into the gear box, that is about the only way you are going to understand how it works, and how to make a fix for it. I would take out reverse and neutral(or the componets to get it in).......if that is possible.
