this drain plug you all are talking about. need some more information on it. exactly wheres it at and do you take it off to make sure it is not clogged. on the other hand i hope this problem i had is an isolated event. i would hate to think this is going to happen every time i take it out. i sure wouldnt want to be out with a bunch and be the only one draining their gas.

At the bottom of the carb you will see a hose going straight down. Right above where the hose comes off the bottom of the carb bowl, there will be a screw that is screwed in from the side. Loosen it a couple turns, and it will open a small valve at the bottom of the carb bowl and drain out the hose. Since water is heavier than gas, the water will drain out first, provided you let the machine sit for a while to give the water time to settle out. Most dirt will settle to the bottom as well. However, dirt sucked into a jet or small port (if there is any) will stay where it is lodged. Only tighten the screw snug, as it screws into fairly soft aluminum.

something else to consider is your jets......were you jetted for the elevation you were at? from the factory I think you are jetted from sea level to 3000 feet.

About all I can think of would be to remove the whole bowl from the bottom of the carb, and dump it out that way.

it may be that you have a electrical short if it is happening when you are riding through water ,you might want to check your plug wire ,maybe spray it with some dry and go or wd40 and put some dilectric grease in the sparkplug boot.

I almost forgot about the plug wire. Check its routing, to be sure it isn't pinched or rubbing on the frame somewhere, especially around the gas tank area. If it is pinched, the insulation doesn't need to be anywhere near pinched through for it to ground out.

Good luck, I sold my 2004 MAgnum 330 4 x 4 after 3 trips to the dealer. I bought a 2004 Outlander 330 4 x 4 . That Polaris was driving me crazy, I had a 2000 and never had ANY problems! I love the outlander!
