Two quick questions:

1- Today I lost braking ability due to the fact that my rear pads were totally gone. I removed them and checked the fronts which are O.K. What would be the right procedure in putting new pads on the rear. Do I just compress the caliper and stick the new ones in? Do I have to add brake fluid or do the thicker pads make the level go back up? What about "bleeding", if so how? This may sound like a pretty lame question but I want to start saving that chunk of money that the dealer usually takes off my hands.

2- I have Bearclaws in the rear of my Scram. One tire kind of overlaps the rounded bead of the rim.(like the front ones do) The other one sits totally inside. Which one is installed correctly? I seem to loose air pressure every week and it seems odd that both are not set the same.

Thanks guys.
(Wait til' I ask for a newby class in jetting procedures and clutch tuning!!!)

I go through 3 sets of rear per 1 pair of fronts. Just pull that brass pin out with the spacer, compress cup with a C clamp, and put it back together. I've done a ton of my buddies brakes, and never had to bleed them once.

As far as your tire goes, I would think the one that is leaking is not on correctly. Take it to a tire distributor and have them check them out.

Thanks, I would have thought that too about the tires but they both loose air...it just depends on the week!

I took them to a tire place and he will take them off and put them back on with a new bead of grease inside. The funny thing is that they are so stiff that even with 0 lbs. they do not flatten.

When I first got my Sport, I bought the Holeshot XCTs and the ITP Edge rims all around. My back tires were fine, but my fronts would go flat in 2-3 days. I asked a couple of dealers about this, and they said they all did it, being that the tire is 6 ply and stiff, the beads just didn't want to seat well. I also had some friends with the same exact problem. One tire dealer told me to brush some brake fluid around the bead, let it sit for an hour and pump it up, and that would fix the problem. I never did that, instead, I bought Maxxis Razrs for the front, on Douglas .190s. They hold air well.

Just picked up my tires. It took them 2 hours to get them to fit. They had to pump in 50 lbs. of air pressure and let them sit in the sun for 2 hours. It did the trick and they are all installed and should not loose any more air!

Good thing they did not explode...it has a recommended 15 lbs mazimum to install the tire.

I wouldn't put brake fluid on the rims because it will llift the paint!

hey,

has anyone tried beadlock. i know they make such stuff that you put on your rim that prevents it from spinning. sometime if the beads don't seat right the tire can even spin on the rim.

i plan on buying bearclaws soon for my scrambler 400. has anyone else had problems with bearclaws loosing air? as soon as i put the rcr kit on i could see the tires starting to wear pretty quick. it smokes the tires every now!

also, i could have sworn that the tire dealer i looked at had bearclaws listed as being 4-ply. ?? 6-ply just isn't nessesary, besides they weight too much. the stock titans are 3-ply.... odd!

anyhow, i would try to find some beadlock. i am pretty sure thats what it is called. sorta like locktite for bolts i guess.
