ppinhiero on this forum has one on his. He lives in Portugal, and it is legal on the streets. He has blinkers, horn...you name it, he has it. And he did not have to alter the machine with street type tire or anything. It is still fully offroad capable. He just added too it, did not take away. It is pretty cool I think. Wish America did that.

I have put horns on my atvs since 1985. (That was the first model I had with a battery) Motorcycle horns work great, are usually more weatherproof than most, and are usually the most compact. I think they are a great safety mod for getting attention of your riding buddies rather than trying to yell or speed up to get their attention.

drmudd,

Like Lurch said, here in Portugal we must have horns on our ATVs so they can be street legal. I have a car horn on my Polaris - loud! :-)

Dazed,

At least here in Portugal (I don't know for the rest of Europe), horns are not a factory item on Polaris', they are part of a generic kit the dealers add to the bikes when they sell them (if you want them street legal) - some people don't need the ATVs street legal, either because they are going to be used only in private land, or because they are going to be used to race.

there really aint much to it. you just find a good spot to mount it preferably where it will be the least likely to get submerged, and just wire it up. i picked the spot under my temp. light to put the button because it fit perfect. make sure you use an inline fuse also, then wake the neighbors trying it out!

all i did was buy a small horn from the local parts store. i picked one that looked small enough that i could fit it up under the front shroud by the radiator. i got the button in the same area of the store, and i also bought an inline fuse holder(5 amp)when i wired it up. i didn't use a relay because you shouldn't really need one.after you get your horn mounted make sure you tape up all connections so they dont short out.i bought all my stuff to do it at auto zone.hope this helps you out!

drmudd,

I have one on both of my quads. I bought them at Auto Zone and wired them into the reverse over ride switch (I never used it much anyway). They are the same kind that are on most motorcycles. They seem to hold up well from repeated dunkings and mud abuse.
