mudlite tires for 95 xplorer
#11
BigBossman.
I just put on 2 sets of Mudlites from RockyMtn this pass weekend on 2 of my Xplorers (’96). 25x11x10 and 25x8x12
I have an Xplorer98 and weighted the stock tires, the ML were about ½ to 1 lb more then combo than my 98 rim/tire which has 1300 miles on them. To me, I would call this a wash in overall weight. Tires were not balanced yet.
What I was after is a tire that weighed about the same so I was not hauling around more driveline weight. I was also quite happy with my stock tires since I got 4500 miles off of them without a plug or patch. So my goal was a 6 ply tire, and about the same weight. I heard if one runs paved roads, the ML tend to wear faster them other brands out there, again time will tell, but I mainly hit the dirt trails and hardpack runs.
I haven’t had them out in the field yet since it has been raining and snowing since I placed them on the bikes. Weekend is coming up, might might have to test them out anyway. Just going around the neighborhood streets, and up to speeds of 35 or so, very smooth running (4lb of air). Time will tell if they stay the same for the 60 mph plus runs I tend to do at times, hehe.
They appear via eyeview, to be the same mounted width and overall size to stock tires. The fronts might be .5" taller then the worn tires on my 98. The rears are very close when viewing them side by side.
