Do you guys/gals oil your inner or outer filter or both and why? I'm trying to figure out what I should oil. I live in New Mexico, so not much wet settings. Uni says to oil the outer filter if in wet conditions, assuming that you oil the inner filter all the time. Since I live in a dry climate, I was thinking of oiling the outer (Red) filter and not oiling the inner filter....just wondering what you are doing?

When I was using a Uni I just oiled the inner filter. The outer was just like a pre-filter which actually catches quite a bit of dirt without oiling.

I run an UNI on my SP400 and I oil both. With all the dust we have out here it seemed to be a good idea to me. Runs good - no troubles.

You're from Belen, kewl, I'm from Albuquerque......

Was going to ride today, but didn't, I think I'm going to take thurs/fri off of work and then go do some riding. I just put a windshield on, need to install my heated grips....for the cold riding.....

I guess I'll oil the inside filter also, can't hurt....pain to clean

I just finished my post-hunting season maintenance. Cleanup was no problem. The outer filter is real pourous so it's a breeze to clean - the inner is about like any other foam filter.

the outer filter will be a breeze, the inner as you mentioned, like other filters....I'm using Amsoil filter oil for my filters, stickier than most, I use it on my Superduty Amsoil air filter....

I hunted elk this year, bow season. I shot a cow the last day, first cow I ever shot, always shot bulls, but couldn't get a big enough one. Passed on plenty of lesser bulls, but was trying to get a good one. They're right, cows do taste great.

I bought the '05 700 EFI during season when it came out, then took it back up to the mountains with me.

I hunted elk with a muzzleloader this year, and it'll be the last I think. I got drawn for unit 34 down by Cloudcroft. I don't have anything in particular against Texans, but I think half of the state showed up for the over-the-counter deer hunt going on at the same time as elk. Anyway, it was a terrible hunt. I passed up a little bull opening day and that was the last shot I had at anything.

Next year it's back to unit 15 or 16 archery hunt. And yes, cows make for good eats

I'm using the UNI filter oil on mine. Don't know how it compares to the Amsoil, but I'm real happy with the setup.

you should have seen the Pinon pickers during the first muzzleloader hunt up in Unit 9. Hunters were pissed because they were running around, music playing, driving off road. Only concession was that the Forestry dept. was up there handing out fines for anyone going more than 25 feet off the road....

I had some friends hunted 34 during the bow season, they took a couple of small bulls. Second year they hunted there, said they only saw one good bull this year. Don't have to worry about deer hunters in Unit 9, its closed to deer hunting....too many pouchers, too many mountain lions and no deer....

I went thru the pinon picking ordeal down in unit 38 muzzleloader deer last week. Couldn't believe how many people there were. The USFS was nowhere to be seen, and these guys were driving offroad everywhere. Saw a lot of doe deer up high, but no bucks. Think there were too many people in the woods and they bailed to nearby private land.

Had I known about the deer hunt in 34 coinciding with the elk hunt I wouldn't have put in for it. A friend I hunt with thought that was THE place to be, so I went along with it The only reason for me to go back to 34 is for turkeys - there are tons of turkeys down there.

No sense in running all the way to 34 to hunt Turkeys, can go up to Unit 9, Mt. Taylor, ton of turkeys there. All over in the fall, more appear to be higher altitude...in the spring just follow the snow melt, all over the place there. Get out early in the spring, before it gets light outside, blow the owl or crow call in the dark and find out where they are roosted.

Do you do any varmint hunting.....have to sight in my AR-15 flattop this week, its an Olympic PCR-16, I put an ATN red dot on it. My usual weapon is a Remington 700 .17 Remington...I put on an HS Precision stock, glass bedded, etc. Tack driver, does a number on coyotes....
