Questions concerning the Trailblazer 250, Trail Boss 330, and the Phoenix.

1) which has more torque off the gun?
2) stock top speeds of them all
3) best trail quad

answers greatly appreciated.

 

Probably the trail blazer on all of those......it is 2stroke. The trial boss might have the torque, don't know for sure. Dont think the phoenix is out yet, so who knows........

 

Personally unless your a die hard 2-stroke person like me, then go with the Trailboss330. They wont overheat like the 2-cycles in slow warm weather riding. The phoenix I'm afraid wont have the power. They gear the 330 fairly low and they will climb things really easy. The top speed of the 250 will be a little faster than the 330, but not by a whole lot.

 

I am a die hard 2 stroke person also..I would go with the 250 cause they can easily be modded up to what u need. The 330 ther is only so much u can do. The phoenix...don't know

 

I wish I could just get a Trailblazer 400, but I dont think any dealers around where I live (VA) would still carry 03 models of the 400

I looked closely at these before I bought and here's my thoughts:

1) Both Trailblazer and Trail Boss are rated at 850 lbs towing. Phoenix rated at 300 lbs. I use one of our Trailblazers to tow my dual jetski trailer with jetskis around the yard. It weights 1500 lbs.

2) I have GPSed my Trailblazers at a touch over 40 mph on a dirt trail. Maybe someone can chime in about the other 2.

3) The Trailblazer has the most suspension travel of the three at 10" rear and 8.5" front (absorbing bumps and jumps), Phoenix: 6.5" and 7". My wife says her Trailblazer rides like a "marshmallow" on the trails. Both the Trailboss and Trailblazer have the same tires 23x7, 22x11, Phoneix smaller at 21x7, 20x10 (absorbing bumps, traction). The Trailblazer and Trailboss are about the same size (size preference). The Phoneix is quite a bit smaller (10 inches shorter and 4 inches narrower). Size could be bad or good, depending own your point of view. I don't like the little sports quads. The turning radius of the Blazer is lowest at 63", followed by Phoenix at 65" and Trailboss at 75" (manuerability). The Phoenix is lightest at 395 lbs, followed by the Trailblazer at 461 lbs and the Trailboss at 505lbs (lighter is better in most cases).

 

all that (size, travel, ect) doesnt matter to me as much as torque off the gun and top-end speed. Thats what I really wanted to know, but thanks for that info anyways.

I have 2001 Trail Boss 325 and it will do just over 50 mph if you have enough room to get it up to that. It takes at lease half a mile for it to top out. It will hit 40+ pretty quick but then slowly climbs from there. The 330 is supposed to make 10% more power, but I don't know what that means as far as top end. As far as torque, my brother has an Exploler 250 and there is no contest, the 4-stroke definately has more torque, but the 250 does OK. We have been very happy with both quads. HTH.

Isn't the Explorer 4 wheel drive? We should probably not compare apples to oranges. The Explorer 250 must weigh at least 170 pounds more than a Trail Blazer, and neither high nor low range will be optimal for a race, so its probably no suprise that it is somewhat slow.
