I too am looking into buying a snowplow, I would probably spend the extra 50.00 bucks and get the electric lift. Thats if I was worried about wareing my self out lifting the 60 inch blade. Ive been debating this same question myself. So the more snow, the more you have to lift the plow up and down. We get a lot of snow here, so I said get the electric.
I also hear that the electric lift can be adjusted so you can lift it higher if you want. The only real down fall is it might take a few seconds longer for it to go up and down, oh and the extra cost.
I would say go electric, if you look back to yesterday in the forums, i put out a topic with a lot of info from these guys and its been really really helpfull.
the topic is: looking to buy a snowplow
I would suggest you go read some of the info they gave me and it just might help you out.
plowing snow should be fun not a workout
Good luck!

kinda says it all about 48" vs 60".
you will regret buying a 48" blade. it's too small for a Sportsman.
BTW, i just picked-up my Glacier 60" plow with rubber upper extention yesterday and it looks just barely big enough. Moose Utilities builds a super-duty, super stong, tall plow. i had 2 and was very satisfied. i just wanted to give this Glacier system a chance. all the guys that have them are raving about how easy they are to install. i mount it to the quad today sometime.
think snow and enjoy whatever plow you buy!
