I have a buddy with a 96 Trail Blazer and he is looking for more power. He is considering a pipe but needs help with which pipe to buy. He rides mostly trails, some mud and hills. Your thoughts would be appreciated.

Agreed. 3 letters for you: R C R.
There are others out there that are very good as well, such as Hot Seat, HPD, Erlandson, Aaen, ect....but in my opinion, RCR is the way to go.

This is something I found out this past weekend out at the dunes in regard to the TB. I had a 99 which my 15 year old son rode. I was also looking for more umph to help improve its preformance. I went with the RCR kit which helped considerably on trails and flat dirt roads. Out at the dunes it was still pretty sluggish and just did not have the power to pull him around with much athority. This past weekend I got tired of it and traded it off on a 01 Blaster. Let me tell you my son was very impresed with what this little machine can do compared to the TB. It relly puts the TB to shame out at the dunes. Anyway the RCR kit was good but the machine itself just dose not have the motor to be more than an avarage machine as far as I am concerned. It is a great trail machine stable and easy to ride but even my 10 year old girl thought it was kind of week. Just some info on the TB so that you wont expect some gigantic gains from a pipe and clutch kit. Also I am in no way putting down RCR, Rick was very helpfull and the kit did make a differance but just not waht I wanted. Good luck.

You could always do what I did and trade in the Trail Blazer for a Scrambler 400 2X4!

Yea that is true however I dont think the ol girl would go for that you see I ride a 95 Sc 400 piped milled head cluth work air box mod and she rides a 98 Sc 400 plain jane. I keep wanting to go a little further with mine and give hers a tweek but she thinks I have a death wish and it is already to fast. So you see I dont think I could have justified it after all I only had $1000.00 diferance from the TB to the Blaster so I think I came out ok.

My neighbor and riding buddy just put the HPD pipe and clutch kit on his 2000 TrailBlazer. It woke it up like you would not believe. Wheelies form a dead stop without yanking on the bars, and is just about as fast as you want to go on the trails. You really need a whole clutch kit for Polaris quads, not just a heavier primary spring.

I bought the Lowend RCR Stage 1 Kit. I gained quite a bit of low end Oomph. I can wheelie from dead start, no yanking. Also I gained a little on the Top, not a lot but you can notice it. I think the biggest thing is the lowend gains, its pretty awesome actually. I can beat my buddies Hotseat SC400 (Pipe and Clutch kit), from a dead start for about the first 10 or 15 feet, then he gets into his powerband and its all over. He woops me good. Heheheh. Acceleration is pretty good. Any other questions?
