Didn't wreck.. took my 99 scrammy hunting this past week.. and I noticed that the more I rode it.. the more the I had to hold the handlbars to the left to get it to go straight.. is there an adjustment on these things? t hey aren't bent..

You sure it is the handlebars and not the toe in/out adjustment for the wheels?

 

Would the toe adjust by itself from a short ride? and what would be the easiest way to tell? I can check it in the morning.. a little dark right now. [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif[/img]

well okay I guess it wasnt' such a short ride.. and we did have 2 people on it.. climbing hills.. maybe it is the toe. it does pull to the right a tad bit as well........ um..

If the tie rod ends loosen up or start to wear, the toe can get out of wack. The spec is 1/16"-1/8" toed out. That could explain the pull as well. I would start by checking that

 

the tie rods look okay.. and they are tight.. is it possible to just adjust them so that the steering will work better??
or is there something else to look into?

Yeah, I would still check and see what the toe is at. Even if the are tight and good, the toe may still be out of wack.

 

okay.. is a good ol' steal tape adequate to measure? or do I need a fancy tool?

A long straightedge that will go from the rear tires to the front will work. A string works good to.

 

so do I want to unhook them before I start alignment? and do I want to set the handlebars straight and then start aligning?
