does anyone else still own an xpedition
#11
I knew about the Artic Cat. Just not a cold kitty liker. Converting the Xpedition to IRS is not that hard, just costly. I still have the Xpedition that I converted to IRS. Motor is trashed, broke the engine cases. Had every possible mod done to engine. Ran good and strong, but I am a power junky. Always want more. If anybody wants to know what it takes to convert their Xpedition to IRS let me know. That motor had over 2000 miles on it before I killed it. Motor still ran with the cases broke, but puked oil everywhere.

I remember you 425xpedition. When I was on this website a few years ago. You were on. I think we even talked a littlie bit about maybe me bringing my atv to texas to join you on some of your heavy duty riding that you like. I was born in dumas, texas and I still have relatives in amirrilo, texas. Sorry if I spelled that wrong. My natural father is burried at the cemetery in Dumas. He died when I was only 9 months old so I never new him. My mom said he bought me a pet rabbit when I was just a little tike.
After he died, my grandmother went to texas and picked up her daughter and me and I have been living in either northern or central minnesota ever since. except for my millitary and civilian jobs overseas that I did. You really beat the heck out of your xpedition didn't you. I have to actually but now I have slowed down a little. I still like the challenges in the northern minnesota woods though. My xpedition helped me hunt grouse all this fall again. It was a blast. I don't have the money to make changes to my atv. I do have allot of mods on it. I remember, in the old days, you gave all of us old xpedition owners allot of advice then and we appreciated it. YOUR A GOOD MAN, I DON'T CARE WHAT THOSE OTHER PEOPLE SAY !!
HA HA!. just kidding. rangerchet

Hey don’t forget me. I bought my Expedition in the spring of 99. I’ve got 2000 miles on it. Not great for high speed but what a great exploring machine. Set the GBS for due west and go. I’ve had very little go wrong with it. Just regular grease and oil changes off I go. It’s now my “other machine” but it always fires up and it’s a tank through the woods. Seems to get places my 800 won’t.
No regrets great bike

My Father is looking into buying an expedition 425. He wants me to go check it out and take it for a spin this weekend, then tell him what I think. I'm not familiar with polaris or this bike, so is there anything I should watch for specifically? other than the usual oils, leaks etc. Thanks.

I'm the same as Totum. Bought 1 new in the summer of 1999. The thing was bullet proof. I just sold it to purchase a RZR. I already miss that thing

Rangerchet,
It has been a coon's age since i was on these forums as well. kind of a blast from the past reading your posts, as well as 425xpedition and xpedition irs hot rod guy too (can't remember his title) =)
i learned a lot reading all your posts back when i purchased my xpedition 425 in 2000.
my dad has mine, i has about 4000 miles on it, he's a rancher, and has gotten a world of good out of it.
the reason i was searching was because he just stripped his shifter out the rest of the way, and is orderinga new one.
the grooves are nearly smooth, i think he should just drill through the shifter, then put it on the shaft and drill through that too.
any thoughts?
i sure had fun reading through these posts, brought back memories of workign the night shift at the jail reading about adventures. made the oregon winters go by quicker.
i have trade and owned several sportsmans since then, but i haven't has as much fun on any of them as when i first bought that xpedition 425.
i currently have a plain jane 2000 sportsman with a winch-loaned it to my dad while his is down.
