I know this is off the topic immensly, but i got a deal or can have the deal last night. A freind has a mint 1990 classic 500, he wants to sell to me for 1000. It books for 2000 and around here people are asking 2500 or more for the same model. Why so cheap? Well he figures he would rather have 1000 dollars and give a freind a good deal than trade it in or wait till some wants it. It is MINT! he is crazy about taking care of stuff. It looks showroom, he has two sleds, one for him and one for company, it has 4000 miles on it. Normally i would not even consider a 10 year old sled, but wow! I guess the dealer would give him 1000 for a trade on the sled he wants, that is also why he figures he would sell it to me for that ammount. Would you guys jump on this or what?

I saw an Indy 500 in the Polaris Pro Magazine and it had 24,000 miles on it.

The Indy 500 is a very durable model, the Fuji engine is bullet-proof and parts are reasonably priced if required.

The only downside would be the firmer ride of an older model like this. Tough decision, it looks as if you have checked out the blue book value.

Yeah the suspension might need to be updated but i have checked around and there are several companies that make shocks for it. I figured even if i put 500-700 into it, which it doesnt really need it is in the good of shape, but no matter how well taken care of 10 years is a long time. I hope he decides for sure to do it.

I have a 90 Indy 500. I bought it two years ago for $500 dollars from a coworker who was moving out of state. The sled had 4,000 miles on it and looked like new. He just rebuilt the engine and put a new track on before he sold it to me. I have put about 2,000 miles on it in the last two years. I haven't and any problems with the sled at all. I have no problem keeping up with the newer sleds on the trails. It rides pretty good for a 10-year-old sled. If I could find another sled like this one for $1,000 dollars I would jump on it.
