Good Price?

I'm a glutton for punishment so I'm thinking of adding another SP 500 to the stable. This one is an 02 HO and its mostly stock in pretty good shape.
I've got a price of 3500 and I'm wondering if this bike is worth it. Is it going to cause the headaches and endless dealer/mechanic trips that our '00 SP500 has resulted in?
The purchase is from a family friend who is upgrading to the new 800, so I am not weary of what I am getting.

Well our 2000 model has been a headache will constant problems so I'm hoping to avoid another instance of that.
The bike is in pretty good condition. It was mainly used around his property and hauling hunting gear and big game in and out of the woods. Not really abused at all, no more than the normal anyway. I'm confident in its condition, just weary of another experience like I have with the 2000.

KBB.com says $4,800 which seems way too high. $3500 sounds fair only if it's in top-notch mech and cosmetic condition. if not, i'd offer them $3K.
with all the improvements on the new Sportsmans, the older ones look (and are) quite dated.
blame it on all you pals on the net and offer him $3K.
remember, it's YOUR hard earned money!

sounds like a good deal to me....unlike one of the members above, I had a 2000 500 and absolutely zero problems after many miles and hours.....i take care of my machines, regular fluid changes, greasing, checking connections, nuts, bolts....always clean the air filter or replace it, etc...and clean my machine....no problems whatsoever with the 3 Polaris's I've owned...
