Default speed loss in 4x4?

I'm looking into a scrambler 500 4x4. My question is ...when in 4x4 can the machine still
go. Obviously it still moves but does the machine have some type of limiter that only allows it to go 10,15, 20?
If I come up to a long mud pit can it zip through. Im just not sure if it has 1 range for 4 wheel drive or if it shifts through several gears.

No difference. It will go just as fast in 4x4 as in 2wd. Steering becomes more difficult but thats it.
