What year is my SCRAMBLER?
I just purchased a Scrambler 4x4 off of my cousin, He owned it for about 3 years and there was no title. It is white with a red seat and red hood and has the 400 2 stroke. I am looking for a Factory Service manual for it and I'm not sure if it is a 1998 or a 1999. I can tell you this much it has a red push button to activate the 4wd. This kind of leads me to believe it is a 1998. I think I saw pics of a 99 that had a different kind of switch to activate the 4wd. I'm not sure where to look on the quad to see where the info might be stamped or the like. I found a service manual for a "99" and was wondering if mine would be a "98" is there any differences that I couldn't use the manual for a "99". I can't seem to locate one online for a "98", and I do want a POLARIS manual.

the machine should have a tag with the year and serial/VIN number....usually located on the front of the machine, usually on the stem or some other area attached to the frame....look for the tag and you'll find out what year your machine is....I'm not that familiar with Scramblers, so can't say according to your description, I'm sure someone can....

Does it say " Concentric Drive" on the right side cover? If it does you should be able to use the '99 manual. I believe they started putting out the Concentric Drive in the latter part of '98. I have a '98 and I use the '99 service manual.
I've replaced everything on my quad 3 times (it is a Polaris after all) and the manual has always been correct.
