sp 800 loss of power

patpath,
I've got an 800 with the exact same problem you are describing, so this is not unique. Rode it 40 miles on trails with no problems to break it in. Plowed for about 1 hour after that, no problems. Plowed again for an hour on Saturday and got down to 1/4 tank of gas and the engine started hesitating and sounding bad. Couldn't keep it running without touching the gas, also not much power when throttling it. Plugs were carbon fouled, got new NGKs and put them in but no difference. No codes on the computer. Took it to the dealer and he could tell right away that it was only firing on one cylinder. It's there now. Hopefully he'll find the problem this week. Seems like something in the ingition or EFI. The right cylinder (as you sit on it) was not firing. Airbox was clean. Have read one other post with the exact same problem as well.

Dealer found a bad coil in my 800. One on order, hope it fixes the problem. So all you 800 owners, make sure you have your dealers check the coils if you start having running problems that seem like you've only go one cylinder firing.

I thought I read awhile ago about similar problems on the 700EFI. Ther was a post in her somewhere, but I think the throttle position sensor (TPS) needed to be adjusted even though it was in spec. (Maybe someone with some patience can look for that one)

Why does Polaris make it so hard to be loyal. This **** just should not happen. Yeah they make inovative and exciting machines, but they should really put them through their paces before offering them to the public. Maybe they just don't care because they are still turning a profit and we are still buying the damn things; but only for so long, I mean, what good is the "latest and greatest" machine if it is always at the shop?

You are right about that, by the way my dealer also told me that it could be a defect coil (what is that?). He will change it and we will see.
Thanks for all your advices, I 'll keep you posted

At least they're trying to find the problem.
Polaris has grown pretty fast, and the fact of the matter is these new dealers don't have the experience to be able to find things very quick. I've got a local dealer who is really nice and tries really hard to please, but they still lack the experience that older dealers have.
Just an opinion, the way I feel from hearing these stories.

Those that expect perfection 100% in machines are not living in reality, my 800 and 330 and 700 all are great, had problems with a honda recon, yea a so called perfect honda, heck a cracked coil, is nothing compared with the poor guys who ran out and bought the new king quads, they are under major recall because the reverse gears sieze up and break off, now thats a big deal! Very few things in life preform 100%, 100% of the time, you will know when a certain brand turns out crap time after time, they will disapear from the market place.

BF 750 1st year quirks, low speed missing
KQ reverse issues
Griz gas issues and axles which have been repaired as will the rest of the above machines that is what happens when people buy the first year models, those companies know that the consumers will buy them just to be the 1st one to have the newest ones on the block. Its really our faults we as consumers need to flood the co.s with letters saying keep them till they are right to be sold . Polaris too will make there issues right.
