Update Performance xplorer 250!
#1
hello all
I wanted to thank everyone for the advice on what to do to my quad to increase its performance.I called several companies before making my decision..Just to let you know I ended up going with Ritter cycle racing .. First and foremost as it has been said over and over the customer service and the overall knowledge and curtosy of rick ritter himself goes unmatched in my opinion..I know its hard to judge by just the few phone calls that i made to other companies but i based my opinion on cold call basis and he won hands down
thanks Rick.. Ok know on to the more fun stuff hehe. I went with the Rcr Stage1 low to mid.kit and it is exactly that but it also has on my particular quad quite a bit of increase on top end. That wasnt to be expected but it happened and I like it!!! starting with the low to mids there is a very noticable increase in throttle response and accelaration and i do mean very noticable in low range the front wheels will now lift off the ground from a standing start and keeps pulling strong at full throttle no hesitation no burble. The flat spot is gone at the top end which is a plus and the top speed went from 43 to 49! If i was to drop about 20 pounds it might go 50 LOL. Anyway Thanks again all for the good advice!!!

RCR Stage1 KIT

Glad you like it. If you don't mind me asking, did you install it yourself? I am hopefully getting my kit late this fall. It keeps getting pushed back due to other expenses. But I will get one. If you did it yourself, how hard was it to install the clutch spring? This is the only area I am concerned about, as I am not extremely fluent when it comes to the clutching system.

Lurch, I did my kit myself. The hardset part with the Clutch spring was getting the blasted cover off and then back on. I tried doing it without removing any plastic. I succeeded but it was a pain in the a**. My suggestion...take the time to remove some plastic so you can get easier access. Other than that the kit is simple to install. And man does it help. Nest up the 34MM Carb, and smaller sprocket. I can't wait, carb goes on this weekend. I'll let you know how that goes.

Yes lurch i did also as Paul said thats the most aggravating part of the instalation was getting the cover off if you'll un bolt the fender from the floorboards it comes off pretty easy...as for the actual spring install its easy as heck ..loosen center bolt and housing bolts remove take old spring off put new spring on make sure that your X's are lined on the clutch and torque to specs and the X;s are very obvious I was alil nervous about it but you cant mess up
and it was not as bad as i thought it was gonna be i think you will like the difference..
P.S use a quality torque wrench on the clutch cover and do not over tighten i have a freind that popped a bolt..

If you are just changing the primary spring it is a breez. I am 15 and did it. remove the center bolt and the ones around the edge and install the new spring.

I have a 34mm carb off a 96 explorer 400 an it works fine no problems. I have my head shaved .020 on my 95 Trail Blazer 250. It is also my racing quad an have learn how to get them to have great excellaration. Right now my atv revs up to 4000rpm before engagment an tops out at 6700 rpm's. I have been able to get it to run with 400ex's from of the line in a 300' start stright away an been able to over take most of them in the race.

x_scrambler3,
You must be the guy that sent me the picture. Great looking bike. The specs look great as well. I am curious, what octane fuel do you run with the shaved head. And do you know the compresion ratio?
P.S. I will post your picture soon.
