Scrambler info please

I bought my '01 Scrammy 500 4x4 used in '03. Just to let you know what happens when you don't maintain these quads. I didnt know what to look at when I was buying my quad. I rode it and it felt really strong, it pulled the front wheels so I talked the guy down from $4500 to $3000. Got it home and looked over it a little. Found a ripped CV boot. Changed that out on my own. Rode it for about a month and it started to feel kinda loose. Rear swingarm bushings were trashed. Pulled them out and found only the new grease I put in them when I first got it. So I could tell the previous owner wasnt keeping up on the quad. So I then started to check all the other bushings. Front A-arm bushing were toast too. Pulled them out and also had to buy new shafts they were worn so bad. Replaced tie-rod ends too but that is a given. Also had to replace hub seals on the front right. Same wheel with the ripped CV boot. Also had a stripped front sprocket and a broken chain within the first month. All these problems were from abuse. I am a quick learner on what needs attention. I now have a routine I go through before each ride. Also grease everything after you wash it. You will be amazed at the amount of water you can squeeze out of the bushings. The machine feels nice and tight now like it was new. I have not had a serious problem with the quad. No break downs from things being weak or not designed well. My only grip is the tie rod ends. I am on my second set now and they are getting worn. Hope this helped.
