Ok heres my situtation after winter I am looken to buy a Polaris Predator. The local dealer here has a 03 new for $4,800 and a 04 Troy Lee new for $5,200 but I'm sure once the 05's are out those prices will go down. I was wondering if there is any real big difference between the 03 and 04's??? Only thing I really know of is the 03 has 10 inch wheels and the 04's are 9". I dunno if I should just wait and get a 05 cause reverse would be nice to have where I ride and plus from what I read their also much better then the 03's and 04's. Also which one do you all recommend the 03? 04 Troy Lee? or a base 05? Another question to is the powerband on the 05's the same? cause with the reverse it's a totally different tranny I'm guessing. My friends got a stock 04 Raptor I want to be able to put him in his place. [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif[/img]

 

i don't know if this is true or not but from what i've seen (personally) between the 03 and 04 drag racing the 03's seem quicker, but it also could've been th rider too!!! but i like the shifting of the 04....i would deffinatly get one if i were you...if i did it all over again i would get a 04!!

However if your paying cash your in the drivers seat,

Indy pred (forum member) has seen the 05 TLD as little as 5999 OTD.

Polaris somewhat shot themselves in the foot by releasing the 05 Preds so soon.

Now dealers are left with 03 and 04... dated technolgy compared to the 05.

Dont expect prices on the 05 to drop to much..that is until about Novmember when the 06 come out.

I bet you can come real close to 5999 OTD.

I would get the 05, the shifting is alot better....and the reverse is great. But the 03 has a longer swingarm, which I like very well. I ride with a 03 & 04....they are all great quads. My 05 is 7 1/2 wider then the Raptor, I also ride with one of them as well.

 

What are the major differences between the 05 Predator and the 05 Troy Lee Predator??
I'm also more of just a trail rider and do smaller jumps.
Which is better for me??

 

The 05TLD has front gas shocks, and a different tranny.....I also do alot of trail riding, the Std. Predator is great for me. You may want to ride them both and see what you think.

 

 

What do you all recommend for proper brake in?? Guy at local dealer said ride it like you normally would but don't hold it wide open. Then said to do the first oil change after 10 hours of ride time.

 

Take it easy and change the oil after the 1st hour, then change after the 1st 10 hours, when you buy it the manual will tell you what to do.

 

RAJ how do you compare your 05 Predator stock with just the pure white bro's pipe to a stock 04 Raptor?
Also how do you get more torque out of the Predator cause I know the Raptor has alot more. My guess is more teeth on the sprocket right?
