Just push the shift lever forward a little and see if the bulb lights up. Also try low range. If it doesn't, just take the two screws out of the awd switch and check the bulb at the back. Take it one step at at a time!

Then take a test light or meter and see if you have power on the gray/white wire leading into the awd push switch with key on,in gear and in awd mode. If not then it's like a problem in the shift box. The gray/white wire sends power to the gray wire ,then to the hubs. If the gray/white wire doesn't have power from the shift box then try to jump the gray to the red or red/white connection on the circuit board and then see if you have awd. At least that what the wiring schematic shows.

On the later models(forgot when it started) the bulbs don't actually complete the circuit but are an indicator of power going through the awd switch to the circuit board. In other words you can have a burnt out bulb and the awd should still work "IF" you have power on the gray wire. Look at the wiring schematic at the end of the manual on this. If I didn't give you a link to a manual here's one.Index of /ORV Manuals/Polaris/1996-1998 - All Models

I tried what u said nothing....so I took both small Greywires from hub and put them on red and white circuit blades got awd now what is your opinion on this??? Does that mean awd switch is bad or switch in shifter is bad?? Wondering if I could just put toggle switch on two grey wires so I can switch from two wheel to 4wheel??? Your thoughts??
