Default Some Predator question.....

I can't believe I'm actually considering a Predator, but a dealership that offers both Honda and Polaris, has me thinking. Was quoted $5,300 on a 2005 TLD Predator and $6,100 for the 450R.
Didn't get a quote on the standar Predator, but I'm guessing it would be about $5,000....what would be better in the dunes? The TLD or standard? I might be joining the Polaris crowd (still can't belive it) within the next month or so. I think straight up I'd take the 450R, but $1000 goes a long way for paddles. That's likely the only mod I'd do for a while.
Or, for any 450R owners that may be reading this, do you think the 450R is worth $1000 more? I'm not really hurting for money, but that price is pretty nice. I also like the reverse on the Polaris...then again, the R is quite light and I never really missed it on my EX.....

If you take a little time to dial it in, the TLD suspension is quite superior to the standard.

Right, I've just read some conflicting reports concerning the new gears in the TLD. I like to sand drag, so what would be better there? If I couldn't even pull 5th gear, I'd be pissed off.

As far as test driving these quads, you really can't around here. They don't even like you sitting on them....

The tld, from what I've heard is a little doggish in 5th.........but I've also heard, that if you know what you are doing with sprockets, that you can fix that pretty easily and cheap too!!!! Also, 1000 bucks would go quite a ways on mods with that pred.......would be a lot faster than the r.......If you think about modding it, tell us, and I'll reccommend what I think is the best bang for the buck........

They changed the gear ratio on the tld's(not on the standard)........to closer ratio's in gears:2,3,4........1,5 remain the same. Well due to the closer gears, and the other gears remaining the same, 5th gear becomes even harder to pull than it was before. But, with a simple gearing change(sprockets) this problem can be fixed.

Thats cool that 2nd, 3rd, and 4th gear are closer.
I like that cause when I"m up north I'm lucky to hit 3rd gear where I ride in the woods.
