I took of the air filter cover off and had a strong smell of gas. I haven't ran it in a few days. Should there be a gasoline smell there? If no what could be the cause, may this be my problem?

pull a plug an check to see what it looks like, check your airfilter for blockage/dirt. you could put some dry gas in the tank to remove any moisture/water in the fuel. start with the basics spark/fuel/compression etc.

DJV,

I, too, am in Ohio (about an hour north of Columbus) and I was out on my '02 700 today and I had some unusual activity. It took me a LONG time to start it with the choke in various positions and it ran rough for a while. I rode for about an hour or so and it began to run even rougher. By the time I put it away, it would barely idle. It died as I parked it. My fuel cap had frost on the underside, so I'm wondering if I've gotten condensation in the tank or something. I'll fool with it later, but you may want to consider this, as well.

I've NEVER had to hit the key for more than about 2-3 seconds to start this machine. Today, I was apalled to have to crank as long as I did.
