Make sure to replace crank seals. A unit that old may need new motor mounts too. How expensive is a new rod? I've never heard of one breaking, but it is old and your're goint to have it apart. Might be worth looking into. It could be a good time to have it stroked if your trying to make a fast machine.

i'm not sure exactly what you mean by stroked but I believe it already is.... I know it has been bored and has a larger piston in it..

and for power wise.. it will hang right with my scrambler 500 ho.... the scrambler just pulls away at top speed slowly..

I mean give it a longer stroke, either by a longer rod or a stroked crank. Dennis at AzBadBoyz makes a stroker kit for it. I think it is a stroked crank. Just something to look into while you got her split open.

so longer stroke means more power??? for sure I will be into doing this!! and sine I have it open allready.. what's a few more pennies....

I bought the thing for 400$ and I figured I might as well put some money into it I like the quad.. and I feel very comfortable working on a 2-stroke....

thanks!

You may already done this, but if you have a oil pump for the oil injection system check it. I rebuilt my 250 2stroke trail blazer a few yrs ago and didnt think much about it at the time and the first ride out it locked up and just about ruined the whole rebuild job.The housing was worn out where it turned in the engine and caused the problem, I just quit using it and premixed the gas. If you do keep using the injector system I would also add a cup of oil in the gas for the first tank or two.The motor mounts had to be replaced they were worn out and torn also.
