What to do???
#1
Sorry, I got booted somehow. Anyway......
I have posted here before some of the problems I have been having with my 2004.5 700 carb. I am at a loss now and a point that I need some help.
It has been back to the dealer I purchased it at 5 times total now (bought it in late September) and the warrantee is getting close to being done. It has 175 miles on it. It has been back for the same general issues every time. Runs like crap and gets stuck in gear (cannot be shifted) after sitting in cold weather. Whatever gear it is in (tried them all) when I shut it off at night, it will be stuck there the next time I start it. And now with the supposed solutions to these problems have come new problems. They replaced some gear and other stuff in the shifting linkage. Well, now it shifts ok most of the time, although sometimes requiring two hands, but it will now shift from park all the way to high without ever pushing the foot brake. A huge pain when plowing. Which is what I bought it for but have yet to be able to use it for effectively.
It ran like crap in the cold, when I could get it to run at all. So the first trip to the dealer, they said the plugs were fouled and it was fine. Well, of course that didn't do it, so back it went. Now they tell me there is a jetting recall for cold weather applications (which I had asked about the first time and been told the 2004.5's had it installed at the factory)? Well, they sold it to me in NH with a plow installed. Maybe a cold weather application? Anyway, so they re-jet it for free with this update. So now it starts and runs when it is cold out, but it sputters and bogs at anything more than half throttle. Like it's too rich maybe. They did fix the problem, you can plow with it fine. But it has no speed or power over 25 mph.
SO...my question is. Should I bring it to a dealer other than the one I bought it at before the warrantee is up? Even though I know I will be on the end of the service list? Should I continue to hound this dealer until it is right, even though it is a pain to trailer it over there all the time? Can I call Polaris or something to file a complaint?
I like the machine overall, but to spend $7000 on a machine and not be able to use it sucks.
I am not bashing Polaris; I really am just looking for some advice. Maybe someone in the southern NH area knows of a good dealer I can try? I'd be willing to travel if I could get this thing fixed right.
