It will probably pull a deer, but without low gear you are risking slipping your belt. If it's all you have than I'd suggest getting a hitch and using a meat trailer.

I have yet to go hunting with my Scrambler but when I loaded up the rear and front racks really heavy and go deep in the hills on fishing expeditions, it did great! It was not like going on a utility quad. Lots more bumpy and I dinged up the rims a bit. A whole deer on the rear rack could be a bit on the heavy side but could be done. Especially since you have the 500cc 4-stroke which has much more torque than my 2-stroke 400cc.

Good luck!

You should be just fine! I had my 99 scrambler 500 last dear season and hauled two deer out of the bottom of the valley, with no problems. Except my rear rack is a little small. So you gotta be a little creative when tying them up on the rack. Thats the main reason for my recent trade to the SP 500HO RSE.

Man I can't wait to get out there this weekend and get back into the woods for opener. Nothin beats climbing up in a tree with the TreeLounge, kickin back on a nice sunny afternoon, and just enjoying the outdoors!!!

Last year, I used a 2WD, 250 Trailboss to get two deer out of the woods. The first day of archery, I drug a large doe out with a rope. Then on the first day of rifle season, I strapped a buck across the rear rack. No problem either way. Unless the deer are alot bigger where you live, your Scrambler won't have any problems. If you can get it on the rack, it works better. Dragging deer on dry trails takes the fur off in a hurry. Happy hunting.
