i almost bought a K&N but i figured with it being all powered snow i would just get the stock one for 12 bucks and wait till summer for the K&N

If your not running in dusty, dirty or sandy conditions you should be fine without it but I see no need to run without one because it shouldn't hamper performance at all and they are water resistant and keep the filter cleaner longer.
Also the K&N will save you money in the long run being cleanable/ reusable and will add some performance gains being freer flowing.
Just IMHO.
