Hi all! I was wondering if someone out there would know if it would be all right to put a hotter spark plug in a sportsman 600 (2003). They run 7's in them. I've heard it would be ok to run 5's or 6's. What do you think? Reason I am asking is I run my ATV in cold weather and heard a little hotter plug can make it run better. Thanks for your time Jason.

I haven't done the updates (bigger fuel lines, and bigger Jets). Just for the simple fact that in warm weather you would have to change jets again and it becomes a pain in the ***. It's ok in cold I just have to let it warm up for about 15 minutes before riding it (plowing snow). I can't complain to much I wouldn't want to start when temp is below 0F. It always starts but if you don't let it warm up it will stall. I just thought maybe a hotter plug might work a little better. Winter in NY sucks. Later Jason.

chaff, the updates aren't just bigger stuff. a dealer can install the update for you. it consists of different jet, jet needle, needle jet, slide spring and adjusting. these should be able to be done under warranty, even if out. and after done you won't have to rejet for weather. unless you do a bunch of other mods. check out the posts under " 600 hesitates and backfires" this will help you out. if your dealer won't help out or doesn't know, then PM me and we'll get it straight.
