Default Which oil ?

I'm putting a new cam in my 700 and it says to break it in not using synthetic oil I use Polaris 0-40 synthetic. So which oil should I use to break it in?

I would break it in using standard 10-40 oil.....although, remember that polaris now puts full synthetic in from the factory....

Pick up some Honda GN4 10W-40, should work for the break-in, then switch to synthetic once you have it broke in....don't think it will be a problem switching back and forth....

IMO I would get 5-40 mineral oil for the break in ... but i would run it on the jack stands for about a hour to break it in and then change the oil back to synthetic.

Thanks for the choices whats bad I just changed my oil only 10 miles ago. Do you think I should drain it out strain it and put it back in? Not to be cheap but $25.00 here and there gets expensive.

Thanks looks like I will be buying a couple more oil changes soon. I was looking at my water pump today and it had antifreeze dripping from it looks like it's coming from the hose. Fluid level is still normal must have just started leaking.

I agree with elkbow, use regular 10w40 just till it's broken in then dump the oil and put the full synthetic oil back in for another short period then dump it and change it again. I use Mobil 1 full synthetic 0w40 instead of the "Polaris" synthetic oil cause I feel that If I'm gonna spend the money on synthetic I am going to get a name brand oil. I am currently using stp oil filters but am going to start either using the fram or napa filters.

Fram makes some of the worst quality oil filters around. Stay with the STP or Napa filters. STP is made by Champ labs and Wix makes the Napa filters, both are quality filters.
