Did any one see the shootout in the mag?
They said Polaris recamended manually adjusting the EFI for extreemly high altitude operation (14,000 feet).
This was PROBABLY just for better performance, not that it wouldnt adjust and run right.
They really like to slam the sportsman (weight mostly, but also singe brakes and AWD slip), but the editor Billy Bartels has been know to like the Predator.
Dave any experiance that high up?
Next issue the open class shootout with the 800 EFI and all the othe big boys.

I didn't get the ATV Rider magazine.....what adjustments was he talking about for high up? Not sure how you can adjust the EFI, well without the dealer. I know the dealer has a program that they can check everything, I'd like to get a copy of it sometime....
I've had mine to about 12,300 feet, it ran perfect. The only problem I've seen at high altitude is that I was in the snow and could smell the belt slipping.
Good deal on the open class shootout, been waiting for that....

The mag said when they asked Polaris for a 700 EFI for a high altitude shootout that Polaris asked how high they would be and needed to manually adjust the EFI system to compensate.
Most likely just to run optimally.
Send me a email at my work address and I'll copy it and fax it to you if you'd like.

Hello jimmypsp700. I think awdowden is right. Normally you adjust the clutch when going to higher altitudes to compensate for lower engine performance. Doesn't matter if it is carb or EFI. This is quite common with snowmobiles. Skidoo says to adjust the clutch on their 600 SDI, which is also fuel injected. Although the EFI compensates the engine properly, for maximum performance the sled geeks also adjust the clutch.
I hope this helps.

Yeah, I bet it was just the clutch thing as well. When I bought my 3 2005 700EFI's it was from a dealer at about 800ft. I told them that I was going to be using the bikes at elevations of 6,000 to 10,000 feet and that Polaris recommends changing the clutch weights to compensate. They had not heard of that. They confirmed with Polaris, ordered the weights (done @ no charge to customer as part of the bike setup) and did the work. Bikes run great.

I'm working with Dalton right now on the setup for my '05 700 EFI. They gave me the setup I need to do. He said the original setup that he told me to use was for most of my riding from 3000 - 6000 feet, I told him that most of my riding was above that. So he gave me a setup for running mostly above 6000 feet. I haven't ordered it yet, but plan to put it in.
