Scrambler 500 transmission concern

Default Scrambler 500 transmission concern

I have a 2000 scrambler 500. When I put it in reverse and try to go it pops out. When idling in nuetral has a metalic noise??? HELP!!!

I had to change my transmission's chain last year.

If you wait few months, the chain will break in the case and it's very expensive at this time.

The chain costs about 60$

woodsyammy, found this post after replied to you other. getting better idea of problem. definitely internal. could be a shifter fork problem. ive had them wear and not want to hold in gear. it could also be bent.

well looks like it will be coming apart..according to my manual there is two chains in this trans?? which one are you talking about and how do I check it once it is apart?

have you tried simply adjusting your shift linkage? This is usually the source. Sounds like you're not all the way in or out of gear.

Default Scrambler 500 transmission concern

Figured out the problem.

I pulled the quad into the garage today, and when i was looking at the linkage, I noticed a crack in the case. I followed the crack to the bottom of the tranny where it ends up being about 1/8 in wide
