Save your cash, or do a aftermarket muffler setup on a 700 or 800 the duals have why to much back pressure on the 800, since the setup is just 2 mufflers conected by a crossover pipe that only one muffler conects to the header pipe. I want to take them off my 800 and put on a hmf, will one for a 700 fit pipe diameter wise?

Back Pressure ?
What does this do?
I thought you want the fastest exit for the exhaust as you can....
I dont think it would be that hard to fabricate a "True Dual Exhaust" for the twin engines...
Just need to figure out want kind of muffler to put on each side....

Thats my point, on my 800 all it has is two stock mufflers with them connected by a crossover pipe, it still only uses's one header pipe, you will get better performance by doing a dual setup with free flowing mufflers or enen a single performance muffler, in place of the stock, unless you just want the look.

He means the stock exhaust on the 800 is not a true dual system, instead it goes from 2 separate pipes at the header then merges to 1 pipe under the seat, then splits back to 2 for the dual mufflers. It's more for looks, not performance. This is more restrictive then a true dual exhaust where a separate pipe for each cylinder would run the length of the bike without merging and exit with its own muffler. Cheers.

Nope thats not how it is, It starts at the head as a two pipe header, goes back near the rear of the seat and goes to one pipe, that single pipe then enters the main muffler, that muffler has a pipe coming out the back of it that goes to the other muffler, in the true since, it is single exaust with a dual muffler setup. performance wise it will do better to throw the dual muffs away and install a single free flowing muffler like a HMF.

I agree on the dual exhaust, If you look at the very first post there is a link that shows the exhaust. It just crosses over from one muffler to the other. I and I think everyine else is more interested in using the header pipe instead of the collector and single pipe on the 600/700s. For under $100 it looks to be similer to the after market header pipes that are more money.

Good Luck, Jeff

If you want to get some instant power from the 600 or 700 carb. mod.. Go up 10 on the main jet, move the clip down 1 slot on the needle, back the air mix. screw out 1 1/4 turn, and install a K&N filter. You will not think you are on the same quad! And you can do this for around $50.

I got the header on my 700 while ago and it really improves low & midrange. This thing will snap your neck off . The only thing I run into is that the header is just a little shorter than the factory pipe and it might cause a leak were it goes in the muffler. I'm still waiting on my main jets to get here. I need to do some plug checks to make sure its not to lean.
