From the dealer's standpoint, I don't think they'd want to weld it for reliability concearns. I realize it could be done right by someone who is good, but a dealer would much rather stand behind a whole new case.

If you do decide to weld that case, 1st take the case and screw it down to a heavy piece of perfectly flat lumber. Screw down throught the mounting holes. This will help to keep it from distorting during the welding process. Try to weld in a manner without overheating the case to causing weakness and movement from the temperature change. When done put it on a flat piece of metal, good work benc, piece of glass even and run a feeler guage around the edges between the case gasket surface and the bench top or plate. Sand it out so it is all flat before reinstalling.

Once thing I can say...A good company in my book is one that will return my calls emails regarding questions, complaints, or ideas. I have emailed polaris about the numerous problems people are having with stuck in AWD, on the 700's...gee guess what not a single reply. 2 things that enrage me as a consumer. 1 sitting on hold for more than 5 minutes, and 2. companies that just never seem to have the time to ever bother contacting me regarding my input to them.....but by god...if you owe them any money or they want to sell you something you will sure get a reply. I just recently started a new company Ice nitrous systems selling nitrous supplies and come he11 or highwater anyone needing info or support I will take care of....I think what it all boils down to is that all these large corporations focus everything on sales. Once you've bought thier product thats where they stop. Anytime anyone needs service on a faulty product that costs the company and most all companies are going to pass the buck on the consumer, ever notice companies sales lines are usully 24/7 and toll free however the support is a local number and limited hours? Then to top it off it all off, for example your broken chain case and transmission, the dealer has apparently seen this before, but company won't wararnty their defect, but will rather come up with some lame excuse to blame you for the cause of the problem....
"Well sir, uh we've looked over the incident here and uh it seems as though we have found that riding your ATV on a friday with a full moon caused the earths magnetism to change the molecular structure of the chain case thus breaking it, so we feel it was an act of nature so uh, we can't really do anything about that...uh we sure do appolagize though and thanks again for calling and have a really great day'" lol.....I think I should apply for a warranty rep job at a large company

I know polaris isnt the best at customer service but you guys are forgetting one
thing. This forum. If there are numerous people having issues and there ignoring everyone
then you should try mentioning the forum, the fact you are a part of it, and the problem
your all having. If alot of people email at once, and polaris can connect them all then
maybe they'll stop worrying about lossing one customer and potentionaly 100. I had a problem
with my 02 400ex about 8 months ago. My local dealer told me it wasnt his problem. I talked to
some buddies on an old site I visited, the next day after recieving roughly 200-250 emails
Honda contacted my dealer, and the dealer decided to help me out. Aparently Honda was
not impressed with my dealer's support for there product and decided to step in. Im not sure
if polaris will help out, but maybe they'll reconize the lack of support for the consumer. Its a
long shot but they cant fix what they dont know is broken. Now if that dealer wont sit down
and talk, call another dealer, ask if its a problem others are having, and if there are any loop
holes. People are alot more talkative when its not there dime. Just a thought.
