My buddy said his 04 Sportsman 400 is rated at 60 hp. Seems a bit high to me. Can anyone confirm?

Back40, the 2004 500HO is rated at 38hp. so your buddies 400 would be around 30-32 i would guess.

 

hotdogmb is right. 37.5 is the approximate figure for a 500. i dont even think the 400 two-strokes put out 60 horse stock.

 

does the 800EFI even put that kinda HP out

 

Dang 60hp out of a 4 stroke stock sportsman.

I would believe that if it was a modded 400 2-stroke but dang.
Those are big number.

I heard the 800EFI made around 50HP. I don't own one though so i could be way off with that number.
