I know it has a battery to keep its memory, but was just wondering if you would disconect the main battery for a while it would "clear it's throat". I know it works on computurized cars sometime. If the speedo gets hung up at say 30 MPH all you have to do is ride it past that speed and it will start working again.

Thanks Bill. I'll try it and let you know what happens. Any other suggestions

I remember reading something about that on the Polaris web site. There was a procedure to follow to correct the problem but I can't remember what it was. Do a search for speedometer and it will probably pop up.

The newer speedos use an electronic speed sensor. It reads speed by 'counting' the holes in one of the front brake disks as they pass in front of it. Sounds like you might have torn the wire to the sensor or pulled it far enough out of line that it isn't reading properly. You can see the sensor if you just follow the wiring to the front end. Along one of the struts there will be 2 wires, one will go to the hub locking mechanism, and the other to the sensor.
