Tapping sound in Scrambler 500 Engine
#1
Hi,
Is it normal that I hear a tapping sound on the right side of the engine. (when Hot)
My dealer told me that the other scramblers he has also make the same noise.
I have read the topic on this matter but I didn't got any wiser.
Some say it's normal others not.
My Scrambler is brand new (3 fuel tanks)
Does any one has the same noise? Is it normal?
Thanks

some of what youre hearing is the drive gears on the oil pump. they are not pressed on the shaft, but are centered on a pin. at idle there is enough play because of low oil pressure to make a tapping noise. others will tell you the recoil starter or bushing in housing, but this shouldn't be the case on new or low miles quads.
