Should I be concerned?
#1
I purchased the 800EFI in December. I have 5 hours / 46 miles on this machine. This is my first Polaris & I'm sure I'll love it, but I do have a question. Lately I have noticed a knocking sound coming from the bottom right hand side of the motor. I'm not sure if this is something that is progressively getting worse or if I'm just paying more attention to it. However, this noise becomes more dominant after the ATV is warmed up, and it sounds like it's coming out of the water pump. The knocking can be heard well over the exhaust and engine. When you do increase the RPMs it's not nearly as prominent, but if you listen close you can still hear it. I ask my dealer this over the phone and he keeps telling me this is normal but I'm not convinced. I stopped by another dealer a few days ago and started up an 800EFI they had on the showroom floor and let it run for a while and never heard anything. Does anyone know if this is normal and should I have it looked at?

No this is totally normal I have an SP800 and it does the same thing. It sounds like it's going to blow a rod or something but your ok, run the hell out of it!! I know I brought mine back to the dealer the same as you and they said it's A ok. I have 550 miles on mine & I run the **** out of it. Just enjoy it like I am mine & DON'T worry!!

I don't think it's the clutch because I can hear it while the machine is in Park. The clacking noise only gets loud after the machine is warmed up. Just doesn't sound normal but if you guys think it is, then I'll let it ride.
