Ok, lots of stuff....
To answer the original question, I'd say the Garmin GPSmap 76 is the best all around. Decent screen, map storage, buttons big enough to hit w/ gloves on, and, heck, it even floats. I think Polaris is giving you one of these when you buy a new quad these days. Since the 76C came out, the 76 is a bit cheaper now too.
I think some of you are referring to a "quad helix" antenna on the 60C as the external antenna. It works much better than the "patch" antenna type on the eTrex's. The 76's all have a quad helix as well.
Never used a RAM mount, but the Garmin bicycle mounts seem to work fine on the 76 and 60C.

I bought a Ram mount did not like it...The mass/weight of unit is it's drawback. I tried several locations on a DS650 and I was unable to keep in place. It would work on a machine driven at a crawl with no bumps, but not if your gonna ride!

I just got a Garmin GPSmap 76 for free for going with the 6.9% 36 mo. financing on my 800. I just now put the batteries in-- this thing is MINT!!! (I'm used to a Garmin E-Trex: Indian for USELESS )
Not a bad deal-- the price was right for me!!

I hope this helps

When using my Magellan Meridian Color on my handlebar mount, I also use the 12 volt cord that came with it. One thing to remember when using the 12 volt cord is to not turn the key off when you come to a stop. I just hit the kill switch on the left handlebar. This way you never have to worry about the battery life in the unit...the quad battery will power it just fine.
I believe I got the handlebar mount at the local Bass Pro Shop.

I just wanted to comment... I went out and sold my etrex vista on ebay (got about $225) and bought a GPSMap 60C with city select software on ebay (for $365). In the end, I paid $140 for the 60C and I can't believe the difference. The city select software is AMAZING! It does track satellites much better than the etrex too. I'm very happy with my purchase.

I have the e trex legend. Great for the size, but maybe I'm stupid and blind. Hard to see in daylight and still can't figure out how to turn it on. Guys, don't slam me, but does it take a long time to figure these things out? This is my second one and I can spend a day just playing with the buttons. Should I take a course so I can really use this thing other than speed and miles?
