UPDATE: I BOUGHT IT AND I LOVE IT, SEE NEW PIXS

Hi im looking at buying a 2003 polaris 500 predator (k&n filter, pure polaris pipe, and rental bars) in good condition.

Was 2003 a good year, what should I look out for?

And whats a good price to pay

I buddy bought one for $4,000...it had a FMF slip on, pure polaris nerf bars, and a pure polaris bumper, air scoops. So 03's had tranny problems, I would say if it was rode hard, you would be ok. Take it out and go through the gears and see how it shifts.

 

I forgot it has nerfbars also,

I cant test drive it!!! as it a bank repo, I can buy it for $3800+15% tax (canadian prices), all they could tell me is that it runs fine, tires are good also.

Let say it does have a bad tranny! how can i fix it and for how much?

I own the 03, RAJ is talking about. My understanding on the tranny is, if you ride it hard and try to powershift alot it can tear it up. I think parts for it is around 600.00 + labor. Personally I would want some guarantee on it for that price, if you dont get to ride it first. Hope that helps

 

WHy is that a good price? DO you think i should go for it. Bank wont give any warranty, they will start it for me and thats it!!

Thats about it, I ride with two 03's and one 04 and I have the 05 and none of us has a problem of yet.
