2004 Predator, did this happen to you?
My 03 Pred came with a case saver mounted under the front sprocket chain guard. I replaced it with a Rath case saver, it's slightly longer. The fit was not perfect, but works. They are very easy to install....two bolts. Obvioulsy, Polaris could sell you a stock one....probably cost more than the $30 Rath model.
I would never run any quad without a case saver. Very cheap insurance against a very expensive fix.
The thing about a Predator chain is that the spec calls for it to be run tighter than most chains (check your book). This is important.
When the 03 first came out, I met two Predator owners who were on their first rides at Glamis and both let their chains get too loose, didn't tighten them, and both had major problems....one broke the case and one needed all new chain and sprockets. My chain also loosened and made bad sounds, but just needed tightening. I thought I was hearing major tranny damage, but not so.
After the initial stretching and tightening, I rarely need to tighten it.
Good Luck....you will love the Pred once you get it set up.
