Default Timing changes 700

I was doing a search for advancing timing on a 700 and it appears it's fixed. I saw something about an offset ket for for an Arctic Cat. Anyone have any info on what offset ket will work or if some other method will work.

what your looking for is a 2003 F7 with a 20 thousands offset. Its a 3 dergree off set key for an AC Firecat. They cost 12.95 from D&D Power Sports 315.376.8013. The key comes in two different sizes, one for the carb and one for the fuely. So I ordered both and will figure it out from there.
I'm hoping to have my 700 up and running again in a couple weeks. Head Porting by Aaen, Web Cams hotter of the two cams they have, offset key. 800 header pipe, pluss a couple of other things.

That info's consistent with what I had found, but there isn't a lot of info on this. I'd appreciate hearing about the install effort when you get it. Thanks for the response.

I sloted the 2 mounting tabs on the pickup coil and got 2 degrees more advance

I'm sure there are other ways of remounting the pick-up with a fabricated bracket with adjustable capabilitys

Firemedic, based on what I can determine the '03 F-7 was EFI only. Later models appear to be both EFI and carb. Let me know what you find out on the different keys you ordered. I ordered one for the EFI model and the Polaris key for the 700, so I can determine if they're the same width. I'll let you know my findings as well.

Len, I won't have to depend on my poor fabricating skills if the offset key works

the 500 is a carbed sled, the 700 is EFI, thats according to my local cat dealer. The idividual that had done this with his 02 700 - the last e-mail I had gotten he said he was preaty sure it was fron an EFI, so I asked him if it was a 500 or a 700 I'm awaiting for an e-mail from him on this.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I put in a 3 degree offset key into my crankshaft gear.
Its the offset key made for the AC sleds; ZR5/6, F5, F7, ZRT6. Got it from D&D Poweresports 315-376-8013 P# AAC-08, cost $12.95.
Had to pull the engine down due to it eating itself up . So while I'm in there ..... Aaen ported the head, put in webcams +5 cam, the +3 deg. offset key.
As it stands with my latest mods, it will pull the front end off the ground in Hi, (not pulling on the handle bars) thats with four 28x12.5 Outlaws on it and i weight in at 220.
Going to be putting the 800 EFI header pipe on, and a carb from a 500HO on in the next week.

Firemedic, I ordered the EFI F7 offset key and also ordered a polaris key to determine whether it would work before the install. The key I ordered is referred to as the small key and obviously it is not as wide as the stock crank key. I think you ordered both. Can you tell me if the large Arctic Cat key will work? I'd like to verify that before I order another.

I do believe that the key I used was the larger of the two. Only one will fit so there is no way to mess up...unless your a bonehead. If I can find the other key....put it someplace safe.... compare it to the key that is in my spare 700 engine sitting in the garage.
