yeah, you adjust it at the cable next to the throttle box. your thumb lever should have about 1/8 - 1/4 inch of play in it.if it has more it lets the contacts hit, making the system think the cable is stuck. pop off the top cover and you'll see a contact on the throttle.

the thumb throttle has alot of play in it. I think it is close to a quarter play. I should adjust the cable and this will take care of the etc in the thumb throttle. I would rather try all the little things before I start tearing half the motor apart to check the flywheel.

yea, i would say thats where you'll find you problem. lossen the locking ring and back the cable adjuster out some until you get the right amount. then retighten. start it and see what it does. also, in neutral, turn the bars side to side to make sure that the engine doesn't speed up. if it does, you may have too tight or the cable could need rerouted. just make sure in neutral, wouldn't want to happen to you what happen to me a few weeks ago. had a bike in the shop, turned the bars while running and didn't know the cable was broke. it pulled apart and being in gear ran into and destroyed a small framed up wall. didn't hurt the bike and nobody got hurt, so after 10 mins or so it seemed kinda funny. hey jeffro206
Thanks for the help. I will try this tomorrow. I will give an update on what I found out. I am going to change the fuel filter also. I have a 2002 trailblazer that idles up when you turn the handle bars. I will try to reroute the throttle cable. I think there was a recall on these bike because of the routing of the cable. It is routed on the left side of the bike. I will try and reroute it on the right side to see if it works better. This is my sons bike and I don't want him to get hurt because os this problem.
