Why do you deserve another cable if it has already been replaced? The dealer took care of you, which is what they are supposed to do. Do you call Dodge and complain about a part breaking on you truck, asking for a new one to be sent out to you, when your dealer already took care of it under warranty? No, you don't. Companies just do not send out parts, especially ones that are considered a wear item. A company, such as Warn, has dealers out there to take care of issues like this, since every case is different and you need to see the product to determine what failed. If Warn's customer service was bad, that is one issue, but you are simply complaining about a wear item failing, your dealer taking care of it and Warn not wanting to send you another cable on top of that. Why do you deserve another cable?

OK so that everyone doesn't say why do you think you deserve a free cable.
I never said I deserved a free cable I said Warn as a giant player in the winch game should have better customer service and better P.R. because first off the guy I talked to was just plain rude and a complete jerk off. and second the winch is only 4 months old. yes the dealer replaced it for me because that is how my dealer is, they understand good P.R. and good customer service. this is why I keep going back to the same dealer for service, parts and sales even though there are 3-4 dealers closer to me. I just plain and simply wanted to see what Warn would have done for me and I got my answer, they wouldn't have done jack for me.

I'm sorry, but wear items are just that, not covered and I am glad that I didn't have to pay $500 for my winch to offset Warn's having to replace your winch due to mis-use. I don't care whose vehicle you buy...if you ride around with emergency brake engaged and smoke your brakes the dealer/manufacturer is not going to replace them under warranty even if tha car is <24 hours old. As for winch cables......they are a 1 pull item, period because you can damage it in one pull. It was made as an emergency extraction device. It did not come with your plow, every ATV site on the internet has posts about plows ruining winch ropes. Figure it out....make something that prevents this damage and sell it....you could make a tidy bundle of cash.
Then again...if Warn, Ramsey, Superwinch, harbor freight or any of the others winch manufacturers start advertising their winches as plow pieces/parts...maybe then they would/should replace them.

"and yes I would contact dodge. you spend 40K on a truck it better be perfect"
You're right, nothing should ever break and we should always deal with the manufacturer when something breaks. This is the reason that there are dealers, so that they can take care of any warranty problems that may arise. If the dealer that fixed this cable to you is an actual Polaris dealer, then they have the ability to warranty any problem with the Warn winches that are made for Polaris atv's. As a former sales manager of a Polaris dealership, I have done this before. Simply, the dealer took care of your warranty concern, so what is the big deal. You dealt with an unpleasant customer service person, therefore the whole company must be a whole bunk of jerks. Have you ever had a bad day on the job?
"for starters welcome to the forums. If you read the whole dam story you would have read that the dealer replaced the cable not under warranty. that is because I have an awesome dealer who understands what good customer service is and that is why I keep buying from them....so don't give me that crap K"
I believe in your original post he took care of it for you without charging you. That sounds like a warranty to me. As a long time observer of this forum I never felt the need to respond until now. K.

I still agree with you silverbullet, and know what you mean. Funny, we both call at different times about different matters, and we both say we had to talk to a rude ignorant jerk. Does anybody see a trend here? Maybe Warn should do like the government and monitor there phone calls to see how their employees interact with customers.
#2 ya, I can see them not replacing everyones cables, but if they don't want a bad rep and pee'd off customers why don't they tell you that the plows are going to cause problems. They don't seem to mind taking your money for the plow kits they sell you. Then they're more than happy to sell you all the new cables you need.
The least they can do is pretend they care when you talk to them so you at least think they want to help you.

I had a same superwinch 1500 on my 99 Foreman S and 01 Honda Rubicon. I had the Warn 2500 on my 04 Kawasaki Prairie 700 and my new 05 Polaris 700EFI. On both of these winches I have repaired the cable about twice a plowing season. It's the nature of the beast, go out and buy some thimble clips and have them on hand, so when it breaks you can fix it.

Sorry Man, I'm the biggest whiner when my equipment fails but this complaint is pure BS. I have 4 Warn Winches, 2 on ATV's (2500 and 3000ci) and a X9000i on my personal truck and a 12000 on my Forestry truck. They have all worked flawlessly except for a contactor that went bad at 3 months old on my 400 Sportsman. Warn replaced it immediately, I just had to send the bad one in.
If I went out and wrapped my cables around a big ol tree and torqued the bajeezus out it should Warn buy me a new one when it fails? Heck no! A cable is wear item that they have no control over. Had you had a failure with the winch itself you probably would have a new one already via warranty. Your plow set up obviously sucks in design because it forces the cable to a hard angle against the fairlead. Learn about proper winching technique and you'll see that breaks one of the golden rules. I'd take up my complaint with the Plow maker or fix the flaw myself. Sounds like you should buy a dozen cables for back up, you'll be needing them. I replace cable all the time, anytime we know we have put the working cables under stress. They have a set design limit, going beyond that is only asking for trouble and possible severe injury or death when they fail. Hard angles can be way worse wear than overloading. I pay $38 for a 125' 5/16" cable....chump change for the use we get out of them.

Sounds to me like your trying to double dip. You got your cable replaced by the dealer yet still contacted Warn to "see what they would do". So if Warn would have offered to replace your cable, would you have returned the one to your dealer? I doubt it. Sounds to me like your trying to milk the system, Warn didnt bite so now your pissed.
Now for a tip, dont waste your time with Amsteel Blue, mine broke after 1 season of plowing. I'm back to cable for the summer and will probably get a 20ft section from Harbor Freight for next winter.

Sigarms, did you use the Amsteel for winching at all, or just for plowing? If you did, how well did it work? Would you recommend it for regular winching? Or would you stick to steel braided even in the summer.
Thanks

I only used it once to get me out of the mud and it worked fine but I still prefer wire cable. When you wind in the Amsteel Blue tightly, and it sits unused for a month or two, I found that it nots up on the drum real easy.
Overall I wasnt happy with it and dont recommend it for any season.
