Default No AWD, No cooling fan, reverse override always on

Machine:

1997 Polaris Sportsman 500
3000 miles

I was out riding today and got in some slimey mud and needed the 4wd to get out. I hit the button and still no 4wd. The AWD light doesn't come on. I then engaged reverse and I had full power without using the override button. To top off the day it then lit the overheat light on me and I found out the cooling fan wasn't running.

I don't have a book yet but does anybody have a scanned copy of the wiring schematics? I know these problems are gonna have a common cause but I just don't know where to look yet. Thanks

James.

P.S.

HELP!!!!!

I tried to google and all I came up with is manuals to buy. I've got one on order but polaris is taking their sweet time. Anybody got the schematics and be willing to scan them? I'd REALLY appreciate it guys. thanks.

James.

Book is on order right now and I've already paid 50 bucks for it but they are saying 2 weeks to deliever it. I was hoping somebody would have the schematics so I could fix her tonight and ride.

My manual only goes to a 95, sorry I can't help there. I had the same symptoms with a dead battery. Check your connections to see if I wire broke or unhooked somewhere. If it starts, it's probably not the battery itself.

check your cooling fan for mud being stuck in there. some guys have mentioned that their fans wouldn't spin due to dried up mud stopping it. just an easy check, as far as your override goes do you have a reverse override mod installed on the quad?
