I just bought replacement boot for my scrammy. If you are going to tear it apart, I would recommend installing heavier boots that won't tear. I bought the thermo-plastic ones from these guys. Not a job I want to to keep doing every year. The kit comes with grease, the boots, and stainless steel clamps. I also bought the clamp tool for $20.
