Default 1999 Trailblazer question

I reciently came across a 1999 trailblazer that has a blown transmission. At least thats what the guy tells me. I have not seen it but have heard that the plastic is in good conditon and the whole thing is in decient condition. I was wondering if anyone knows anything about how much work has to be put into fixing a transmission on this bike. I know the discription of the problem is horible but i need some estimations for parts before i commit to this purchase. What is the value for something like this? i think its stock but there might be a few mods. He is asking $600 for it but its been sitting for a while so i think i can talk him down. I want a nice ATV to ride but if its worth it i wouldnt mind fixing it to sell. Its it worth it? Thanks for any help.

Don't let the hp numbers fool you. Its all in how you get it to the ground. Clutching clutching clutching!

A new tranny for that TB is close to $1000 but you can find them on ebay for a fraction of that.Or you can fix it depending on what s wrong with it.

I have a 99 sport 400. I did have a tranny problem and i changed the silent chain inside the transmission because it was slipping. I dont remember how much it was but it took a afternoon to pull the tranny out and replace the chain then re install it. You dont know what is wrong with the tranny do you? Did he say what it does? If it slips it could be the chain and not a hard fix.

I have no idea whats wrong with it, he didn't tell me anything yet. Im just wondering if its even worth putting money into. I would like to know worst case senerio how much, If its $1000 i dont know if its worth it but if it just the chain then i think its worth it. Is it worth my $600 to find out?

Where are you located? I would think its worth $600 if it runs. You can always put it on ebay. But even if you had to put $1000 into it I would think they are worth at least $2400. That is what I would want to get for mine with new tires and the extras I put on maybe even more than $2400. I purchased mine used for $2000 but it needed tires, brakes, and the oil injector block off because it didnt work.

I love mine.

thanks for the info. I think its worth it as well. I did some looking around and they seem to go for about 2400 on average. I also looked up a new trany for it and found most of the parts for about 800. I really hope that its just the silent chain like bisho12 said because they are only like $30. I hope to talk him down to $400 or less just because i know him and i know its been sitting for over a year. Thanks for all the input, if anyone has anymore to add please do. I would also like to know if its something i should keep or if they are problematic. I have a 86 LT250R and i love riding it. I enjoy the 2 stroke's, they are alot of fun. Thanks again,
Neil
