Scrambler rear lift
#12
Sorry to resurrect such an old thread, but greenlant, I too am curious exactly which wheels and tires you have on there. I really like the look and have been looking for an upgrade for my Scrammy also. Did you ever get a solution to the rear end?

i have series 5 wheels with holeshot atr tires. you have to specify 4x4 bolt pattern for the rears. i got a buddy that has a machine shop to make me a lift for the rear. i will try to get pics. probably when i get back from this weekend.

The AWD engages when the rear tires spin faster than the fronts. So upgrading both front and rears to the same size, say 25", is OK because it makes ratio of difference between front and rear tire speeds smaller (the same speed instead of the fronts slightly slower.)
Switching to 25 rear and 26 front would also be ok. Stock, the rear tires turn 1.0454 times for every one turn of the fronts. With the 25/26 combo, the rears turn 1.04 times for every one front turn. This means the rears are spinning slower, which makes this combination ok.
Technically, you could run any tire combo you wanted by changing the tooth count of the rear sprocket. But that can get complicated.
