it not that way on my scrammbler 500 4x4 its differant on your quads then mine .

Unless there is something wrong with yours, the wheels do not lock until the back ones slip. They are the same system.

Bob, the reason it looks like that is with the atv jacked up, the rears have no traction, so they instantly engage the front wheels. With zero traction for the rear, they cannot go slow enough to disengage the fronts when the switch is turned off, making it appear to be malfunctioning.
